In Pursuit of Happiness
I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled about the recent body of research that indicates optimism, happiness and positivity lead to success [instead of the other way around]. For those of us who knew this intuitively, it’s nice to be validated by those of us who need scientific proof.
I’m reading a great book called Positive Psychology Coaching by Robert Biswas-Diener and Ben Dean and much of this blog is a summary of my learning. When we acknowledge that the notion of happiness is central to our society–from expecting happy endings in books and movies to taking on a moral imperative in the US Declaration of Independence—we realize that we all want to have fun, fall in love, feel at peace and experience satisfaction.
